タイトル SENSU SuperDARN 昭和基地大型短波レーダー観測
サブタイトル
データ概要 短波帯電波を電離層に向けて発射し、その干渉性後方散乱エコーのドップラースペクトルから極域電離層プラズマ対流を広範囲（射程約3600km、角度53度）にわたり測定する。これは1995年から始まった南北両極域全体にわたる国際共同観測ネットワークSuperDARN（Super Dual Auroral Radar Network）の一環で、昭和基地には大陸内部を見る第1装置と東側沿岸域を見る第2装置の2基が設置されている。送信周波数は8〜20MHz、各装置毎に16 (+4)基のログペリオディックアンテナ（高さ15ｍ、エレメント長12ｍ）を15ｍ間隔に並べたphased array構成となっている。各アンテナにPAがあり、各PAの送信出力は600W。送受信機や制御用PCはアンテナ近くのレーダー小屋にあり、データ収録系は観測棟内にある。46次で第1装置はステレオレーダーへと更新された。
