- A landmark data policy and greater data openness (with significant challenge remanning)
- Establishment of new data centers, data portals, and the growing Union Catalog of metadata
- Greater international collaboration around data at the working level and between poles
- Data citation guidelines which are being adopted and adapted by other international groups
- New focus on data management in disciplines where this was lacking, e.g. Arctic biodiversity, Local and Tradition Knowledge
