Title | Imaging Riometer Observation at Syowa Station |
Sub-Title | |
Data Summary | Imaging Riometer (IRIO) observes temporal variation of the two-dimensional distribution of the Cosmic Noise Absorption (CNA) due to the precipitation of the high energy electrons into the ionospheric D region by using the 8 x 8 dipole antenna array (64 pencil beams). IRIO observation can monitor the auroral particle precipitation all through the year, being free from the low altitude weather condition. Total fields of view of the antenna is ±45o, which covers the area of 180km x 180km at D region altitude. 30MHz and 38.2MHz systems were installed by JARE-33 and 45 in 1992 and 2004, respectively. Both controller and recorder parts are set in the information and processing building. 30MHz (38.2MHz) system data are recorded by a MS-DOS (Linux) PC with MO disk with 1 Hz sampling, respectively. |
