| Data Summary | This dataset archives radiosonde observation data collected at Syowa Station, over the Antarctic continent, and aboard the icebreaker Shirase while sailing in the Southern Ocean. These observations were conducted as part of research projects under the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE) between December 2014 (JARE-56) and September 2022 (JARE-63). At Syowa Station, observations were carried out in response to the YOPP-SH (Year Of Polar Prediction in the Southern Hemisphere) project organized by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO). On the Antarctic continent, observations included fixed-point measurements at S17 (a coastal site) and Dome Fuji Station (an inland site), as well as three mobile campaigns along traverse routes connecting the coast and Dome Fuji. Observations in the Southern Ocean were conducted along the voyage routes of the research vessel Shirase. |
