Title | Oceanic velocity, temperature and salinity data(UM0809) |
Sub-Title | Time series data |
Data Summary | Mapping of sea-ice production in the Antarctic based on heat-budget analysis from satellite sea-ice data and objectively-analyzed meteorological data has revealed the second highest ice production in the Cape Darnley polynya next to the Ross Sea. Based on this result, a mooring experiment in the downstream region of this polynya to capture Antarctic Bottom Water (AABW) was carried out as a Japanease International Polar Year project. Five current meters, two ADCPs (Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers), 15 conductivity-temperature (CT) recorders, and two thermistors were deployed at four mooring sites, and good data were obtained by all the instruments except an ADCP and a CT recorder. These data will be analyed to examine the importance of the AABW production in this region. |
